How to Separate Convection Oven Doors to Clean
Cleaning the interior glass of an oven door might seem challenging. However, most oven doors can be removed easily from their base hinges. Depending on the type of oven, this can allow you to clean the interior glass of the door with a long brush through the lower vents. For more extensive cleaning, some glass panels can also be removed. Fully removing the glass on the backside of the door allows both interior glass panels to be easily and quickly wiped clean. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Turn the screws a half-turn on your hinge door to release the lock mechanisms on each of the hinges. Some ovens use a pin-release system or a latch system. Others can be lifted off of the hinge posts when the door is half-open. Refer to the oven manual for guidelines specific to your oven door hinges.

2
Hold the door firmly while releasing the door from the latches. Lift and wiggle the door carefully to release the hinge(s) and pull the door up and out from the base.

-
3
Place the door on the floor; use rags or paper towels to protect both the floor and the door.
-
4
Wrap a rag or old sock on a long bottle brush. Many oven doors have open slats at the bottom of the door that provide access to the interior glass. Put cleaning agent on the rag, then push the brush and rag through the lower slats to wipe the inside of both glass windows.
If the glass in your oven door does not have open slats at the base or requires further cleaning, examine the perimeter of the glass for screws. Some ovens allow easy removal of the interior glass by removing two or three screws along either the top or the base. Clean the interior thoroughly before replacing.
-
5
Replace the door by placing it back on the hinges and secure it in the same manner you removed it.

Tips & Warnings
Check to see if your oven is still under warranty--if so, service for this procedure may be covered by the manufacturer.
Some ovens require extensive labor to fully separate the interior glass. The time-consuming removal of many small interior screws may be involved and is generally not recommended by the manufacturer. Outside covers and insulation of more intricate door panels may also become damaged during this process. Use caution to avoid ruining the insulation, which will require further repair before reassembly.
