How to Remove the Stereo From a 2004 Dodge Truck

Dodge has a few different 2004 truck models, all of which have stereos. The stereos that come installed in the Dodge truck are stock Dodge stereo that are manufactured by Panasonic. The 2004 Dodge truck models are all different but the process for replacing the stereo will be similar for all of the model. You must have a basic knowledge of the Dodge truck model that you are working on and the correct tools to remove the factory stereo.

  • Socket set

      Use the socket set to disconnect the positive battery cable so that you don't get shocked when you disconnect the wires from the truck. Locate the screws and bolts that are securing the dash to the frame. Four screws are commonly used to secure the stereo and are clearly visible.

      Remove the bolts from around the edge of the of the dash using the power drill and corresponding size socket. Pull the dash off of the frame once all of the bolts have been removed.

      Remove the screws that are securing the stereo to the dash using the screwdriver. Pull the stereo from the rear of the dash and out of the Dodge truck. Disconnect the wires and power cord from the rear of the stereo.
