How to Install Memory for a Compaq Presario 900
You can help to boost performance on your Compaq Presario 900 by installing a greater amount of memory, or RAM. Installing memory does not take much time, especially if you are comfortable with opening your computer's case. You need to take precautions with static electricity by working in an area without carpet and by touching the computer's chassis each time before you touch anything inside the computer. You can find memory modules for the Compaq Presario 900 at a number of computer supply stores.

The memory socket is attached to the motherboard. Line up the notches in the memory module with the matching raised ridges in the memory socket. Insert the memory module into the slot so that it does not wobble.

Look at the retaining clips on each side of the memory module to make sure they have snapped over the ends of the module. If they have not, pull the module out of the slot and reinsert it so the clips snap into place.
