How to Change the Read Panel on Outlook Express
Outlook Express' preview pane gives you a quick look at what is inside a message as you browse your mailbox. That way you can preview new messages and quickly find old ones. You can turn the preview window on or off at any time, just like many other features in this free email application. Outlook Express has a customizable layout so you can hide or show toolbars and panes to better suit your preferences.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to display message headers in the "Preview" pane, click "Show Preview Pane Header." This option will be grayed out (disabled) if you turn off mail preview.
When you click a folder in Outlook Express, the "Preview" window will automatically display the topmost message listed in the folder. This can slow down performance if the message is large or contains images.
