Instructions

      Remove the New York strip steaks and allow them to reach room temperature for one to two hours.

      Coat the steaks with olive oil. Season them with your preferred dry seasonings.

      Move the bottom oven rack so that it rests 6 inches above the heating element in the oven.

      Place the broiler pan in the oven. Preheat the oven by setting it the broiler setting.

      Place the New York strip steaks on the broiler pan.

      Sear the steaks for three minutes on each side. Reduce the temperature to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook the steaks until they reach a temperature of 120 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit for rare, 140 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit for medium and 150 to 160 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-well. Anything above this temperature range will cook the steaks to well done.

      Remove the New York strip steaks from the oven. Allow them to rest for five minutes and then serve.

  • Trim excess fat from strip steaks to make them more lean.
