How to Install an RCA Home Theater System thumbnail
Use the supplied RCA video cable with yellow plugs to install your system.

RCA home theater systems consist of a speaker package and powered subwoofer that connect to a receiver with built-in DVD player. Each speaker connects to a specific terminal on the RCA receiver with a two-strand, color-coded speaker wire. Use the included RCA video cable with yellow plugs to connect the receiver to a TV. The supplied loop antenna connects to the receiver for improved radio reception. The system also comes with a remote control and batteries. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug all components with electrical cables from the power outlet to prevent damage to the speakers while connecting the system.

    • 2

Set each speaker in the room according to its label. For example, place the front left and right speakers on each side of the TV. Set the center speaker close to the TV, since the center channel provides most of the dialog in home theater. Turn the rear speakers at a 45-degree angle toward the back of the audience. The powered subwoofer sits on the floor near the RCA receiver.

    • 3

Connect the supplied speaker wires to each speaker. The colored wire connects to the positive (+) terminal on the speaker and the black wire connects to the negative (-) terminal.

    • 4

Attach the two strands on the other end of each wire to the labeled speaker terminals on the RCA receiver.

    • 5

Connect the two wires on the end of the oval-shaped loop antenna to the two terminals labeled for the antenna on the rear of the receiver.

    • 6

Push in the yellow plug on one end of the video cable to the video out jack on the rear of the RCA receiver and insert the plug on the other end to a video input on the back of the TV.

    • 7

Push down the cover on the remote control's battery compartment to slide it off the back of the unit. Install two supplied AA batteries in the remote and replace the cover.

    • 8

Plug in the power cords for the RCA receiver, the subwoofer and television.
