How to Replace the Video Adapter in a Dell Laptop
The video adapter in your Dell laptop is also known as the video card. If you have a purchased a new video card, you will want to replace your old one. Replacing your video card will require you to expose the internal components of your Dell laptop. Manually replacing the video card in your Dell laptop may void your warranty, so proceed with this operation with care.

Turn off your Dell laptop and remove the power cord and battery.

Remove the plastic bezel hinge located above your keyboard. You can pry the hinge up with your fingers to remove it.

Remove the two screws securing your keyboard.

Disconnect the data cable from your keyboard, then remove your keyboard.

Remove the four screws securing your outer shell, then remove the outer shell.

Remove the two screws securing your video card. Your video card will be located in the upper, right portion of your laptop. Remove the video card.

Insert your new video card into the port where you removed your old one.

Replace the screws in your video card.

Replace your outer shell, keyboard and bezel.
