How to Protect Ears From Noise

Most earplugs are one-size-fits-all.

Loud noise damages hearing. People can control some situations, such as turning down the volume on stereos, headphones and televisions, but they do not have control over outside noise. Earplugs and earmuffs help protect ears from loud noises. Regular foam earplugs work for most people. If loud noises surround you on a regular basis, ask your doctor for custom-made earplugs. Those just slip into the ear. Wear earplugs and earmuffs when using power tools, mowing the lawn, attending concerts or loud events and during any other loud activity.

Things You'll Need

• Foam earplugs
• Earmuffs

Instructions

1. Roll the earplug between one finger to soften it. Squeeze the end of it.

2. Gently place it in your ear. Do not push it hard or try to force it farther than it can go.

3. Repeat with the other plug.

4. Put on the earmuffs. Adjust so they fit snugly.
