How to Convert Yard to Meter Times
Meter times refers to the number of meters a person or object travels over a specified time period. This unit is frequently used for sprinters. An example of a measurement in meter times is an individual that takes 40 seconds to run 100 meters or 2.5 meters per second. A meter is a metric measurement of distance, but in the United States the yard is frequently used. A simple calculation can transform yards to meters.

Yards to Meter Times
-
1
Take the desired number of yards and multiply this by the meter conversion factor of 0.91. One yard is equal to 0.91 meters. The result is the equivalent number of meters for the number of yards. For example, if the distance is 50 yards, multiply 50 by 0.91 to get 45.5 meters.

2
Time how long it takes for the person to run, swim or walk the desired length using a stopwatch. This can also be the time it takes an object to move across this distance, such as a car or other moving object. Record the time.

Divide the calculated meters by the recorded time. This produces the meter times measurement. For example, if Susan ran 50 meters in 41.6 seconds then the meter time is 1.2 meters per second.

Tips & Warnings
The meter time needed for long distances can be calculated by determining the meter times for a short distance. For example, the meter times for Susan to run 10 meters is 1.2 meters per second. To determine how long it takes for Susan to run 50 meters divide 50 meters by 1.2 meters per second. It will take her 41.6 seconds to run 50 meters.
If you have a time for a race measured in yards and you want to convert it to meter times, convert the yards to meters. For example, if Susan ran a 50-yard dash in 7 seconds, multiply 50 by 0.91 to get 45.5 meters. Her meter time is 45.5 divided by 7, which is 6.5 meters per second.
