How to Maintain a Johnny G Spin Bike
Manufactured by American company Star Trac, Johnny G Spin Bikes are available in two models, namely the Johnny G Spinner Pro and the Johnny G Spinner Elite. Like any other bicycle or spin trainer, the Johnny G requires regular care and maintenance to ensure that it remains in the best possible condition. As spin bikes are used indoors, they are exposed to a minimum of dirt and debris. However, they often come into contact with sweat and moisture.

1
Warm water is the most effective tool in maintaining a spin bike. Wipe down the entire bike with a clean, dry cloth to remove all sweat and moisture, which can cause corrosion of the components. Make up a solution of mild soap and warm water and clean the bike thoroughly before drying again.
-
2
Avoid getting the soap and water mixture on the components or the chain and don't use the towel to remove any dirt, grease or debris from the chain. Use a quality degreaser to remove oil residue on the chain and the components.

3
Lubricate all moving parts of the spin bike with a high-quality grease or spray lubricant. This includes the seat post, the threads of the resistance knobs, the adjustable foot threads and the chain. This will ensure the smooth running of the bike. Repeat at least twice a year if your Johnny G spin bike is for personal use and once a month if used in a gym.

Rust can lead to a loss in structural strength. Study the bike closely for any signs of rust. If any is found, remove it before thoroughly cleaning the area, repainting it and applying a coat of polish. Check this area in future to ensure the rust does not return.
-
5
Check the functioning and wear of the brake pads. Replace worn pads and clean any debris or build-up on pads still in use. Lubricate the brake springs lightly, ensuring that no lubricant leaks onto the brake pads or the wheel.
-
6
Ensure all bolts and screws are tightened and replace any that are old or worn. Perform a final inspection of all parts and components, replacing any that are old or worn.
