When your hair is naturally light and you dye it dark, the drastic difference can make for unsatisfying results. It is possible to remove, or lift, the hair dye from the hair. However, using products like bleach and hydrogen peroxide can dry and even damage your hair. When lifting hair color, use bleach with peroxide specifically designed for hair. Things You'll Need

  • Shampoo
  • Latex gloves
  • Hair bleach
  • Hydrogen peroxide developer
  • Plastic spoon
  • Application bottle
  • Wide-tooth comb
  • Shower cap
  • Deep hair conditioner

Instructions

      Wash your hair with shampoo and rinse with warm water. If your hair was dyed in the past few hours, this will help remove some of the color.

      Put on your gloves and add 1 part hydrogen peroxide developer to 1 part hair bleach directly into your application bottle. Add the hydrogen peroxide slowly, and stir with a plastic spoon to mix.

      Apply the mixture directly to the hair. If you are lifting the color all over, then comb through with a wide-tooth comb. If you are lifting the color from small sections, apply the solution and then clip the section of hair back from the rest of the hair.

      Place a shower cap over your head to stop the bleach from dripping. Let the solution set for 30 minutes. Check your hair often to prevent damage.

      Rinse your hair with warm water and apply a deep conditioner to prevent your hair from becoming damaged.
