How to Make a Campaign Flyer

How to Make a Campaign Flyer thumbnail
Organizing thoughts and topics is a crucial first step in making a campaign flyer.

Campaigning for positions where peers make the decisions, is a process that takes time and an attention to proper messaging. A properly worded and organized campaign flyer can convey a message and succinctly describe the stance one takes on various issues and topics. Though debates, discussions and more in-depth conversations about complete thoughts on an issue occur during a campaign process, a flyer gives people a quick overview regarding key topics and positions.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a list of the key topics that are essential to your overall campaign platform. For example, if you are campaigning for better education policies and practices, list the problems you see in the current situation and then list solutions for every problem. Make your list using brief phrases and sentences that give one point per topic.

    • 2

Take digital photographs to use on your flyer. Have photos taken of yourself and of the topics you listed as being important to your campaign. For example, if you are campaigning for better education take a photo of a school under your potential jurisdiction.

    • 3

Gather quotes and comments from your supporters. For example, to highlight your educational stance and plan, get comments from school administrators, teachers and others in education to use in your campaign flyer. Make sure to get written permission to use their comments and have the person review the statements prior to publishing them.

    • 4

List all upcoming appearances, town hall meeting, debates and other venues where you will be discussing your campaign agenda. Make sure to list the exact date, time and location for each appearance that you want to promote.

    • 5

Organize your key points, comments from supporters and photos by using a basic word processing or document creation program. Enlist the help of others if you are unfamiliar with using such programs. Print out a black and white copy and review the draft flyer. Experiment using different colors and fonts. Make copies of all options and have your support staff or other trusted friends and associates look at the options and choose the one that fits your campaign best.

    • 6

Take your printed draft flyer to a professional printing company in your local area. Avoid using an online company to save money as in campaigning, local business support is a factor in public opinion. Talk with the company and determine a final price and final flyer. Have the flyers made and order as many as you need. Keep local laws and ordinances in mind in determining how many flyers you need. Contact your local municipality to inquire about flyer distribution and abide by all local ordinances.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep the wording on your campaign flyer simple and short; avoid using complex words and phrases.

  • Do not use profanity on a campaign flyer; even for topics you are passionate about.
