How to Add a Skype Button to Email

The Skype application allows users around the world to communicate for free through voice and video calls and instant messages. Skype users can also place low-cost calls to landlines and mobile phones with a paid account. You can embed a customized Skype "Call Me" or phone-like button in your email signature so that people can contact you easily on Skype.

      Click the green "Download Skype" button from the Skype website (see Resources) to download Skype for either Windows or Mac OS X. Open SkypeSetup.exe and follow the steps on the installation screen. Double-click the Skype icon and complete the registration on the Skype start-up screen. Log in.

      Ensure that your email supports HTML editor and check the settings to enable HTML in your emails. Go to the Get a Skype Button website (see Resources) and fill out the Skype name. Select one of the four customized Skype buttons for your email. Choose your Skype status or availability that will be viewed by everyone in your contact list: Skype Me! or I'm away. Click the "Email HTML" radio button.

      Copy the HTML code in the box and paste the code in the email.
