How to Set a VCR to Record With a Digital Converter

Digital converters add life to older TV sets by transforming digital broadcasting signals into analog signals for viewing on the TV. You can record programs off the converter box with a VCR by hooking up this component in between your converter box and TV using a pair of coaxial cables. Once connected, the VCR operates normally for recording and playback of TV shows from the digital converter box.

Things You'll Need

• 3 coaxial cables
• Antenna
• TV

Instructions

1. Disconnect all electronic components from the power outlets before hooking up cables.

2. Connect a coaxial cable from the jack on your antenna to the antenna input labeled on the back of the converter box.

3. Hook up the second coaxial cable from the "Out to TV" jack on the converter box to the antenna input on the VCR.

4. Connect the third cable from the VCR's output jack to the antenna input on the TV's back panel.

5. Plug in the power cords for all components and turn them on.

6. Press the automatic scanning button on the converter box to program the unit with available channels.

7. Set your VCR to channel 3 or 4, depending on the model, and set the converter box to the channel you wish to record.

8. Insert a blank video cassette into the front door on the VCR and press the VCR "Record" button when you are ready to begin taping the channel on the converter box.
