How Do I Replace the Mirror on a 2000 Yukon XL White?

The mirror on the white 2000 Yukon XL bolts to the windshield in the same manner as most automobiles' mirrors. It secures to a metal bracket called a button. The button glues to the windshield with a strong, heat-resistant adhesive. Replacing the rearview mirror requires basic tools and very little knowledge of automotive repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Push the mirror lens upward so it faces the roof of the Yukon. This gives you more room to use an Allen wrench to remove the setscrew at the base of the mirror.

    • 2

Loosen the setscrew by turning it counterclockwise with an Allen Wrench. Complete removal of the setscrew is not necessary. Turn the screw out until the mirror loosens on the button.

    • 3

Slide the mirror up to remove it from the button.

    • 4

Place the new rearview mirror directly above the button, against the Yukon's windshield. Slide the mirror down onto the button until it seats into place.

    • 5

Tighten the setscrew to secure the mirror into place.
