1
Sketch a design identifying how you plan to use the decal or decals on the glass.

2
Select the decal.

-
3
Select the glass you plan to use for the decal. If you are making the glass, add the decal as the final step after all other fusing and kiln firings are complete.
-
4
Cut out the decal using a craft knife or scissors. Cut as close to the decal as you can without disturbing the decal itself.
-
5
Follow the manufacturer's instructions to remove the decal from the backing. In most cases, place the decal in a small bowl filled with warm water until the decal is water logged and the backing will easily slide off the decal.
-
6
Place the decal on the glass. In most cases, it is easiest to place the water soaked decal on the glass and slide the backing off. Use a paper towel to remove water from the decal.
-
7
Allow the decal to dry. There should be no moisture on the decal when you place the glass into the kiln.
-
8
Place the glass with the decal in the glass fusing kiln. Fire the glass according to the decal manufacturer's instructions. The firing temperature varies depending on whether you are using a gold decal, a ceramic decal or a photo transfer paper decal.
