How to Remove Powerpoint 2007 Links

Linked objects in your PowerPoint presentation change when background data updates.

Many professional positions involve repetition of presentations on a monthly or quarterly basis. You can paste your charts and tables into your PowerPoint as linked objects that allow you to update them when needed, rather than repasting for every iteration. However, these links will not work and can confuse others when you send the presentation to them to open on a different computer. To prevent this confusion, you can remove or break these links before you send the presentation.

Instructions

1. Click on the Microsoft Office button in the top left corner of your PowerPoint task bar.

2. Move your cursor and hold it over "Prepare" until the pop-up menu appears.

3. Click "Edit Links to Files."

4. Click on the link you want to remove, or highlight all of them if you want to break all links.

5. Click "Break Link" or hold down the "Ctrl," "Shift" and "F9" keys.

Tips & Warnings

• Once you remove links to an object, you cannot re-link them. You must repaste the linked object.
