How to Use a BlackBerry Without a Track Ball

The trackball on a BlackBerry is used as if it were the mouse on a computer. Unfortunately, there are times when dirt, debris or even something simple like water can get into the trackball socket causing it to malfunction. You can remove your trackball and clean it or get a trackball replacement to ensure your phone always works properly; but in the mean time, you will have to learn to use your BlackBerry without the trackball until the issue is resolved.

Instructions

1. Press the BlackBerry "Home Screen Menu."

2. Press the "Home Screen Menu" button again to open the Home Screen Options.

3. Type the "S" key until Switch Applications is highlighted. Hit the "Enter" key to select this application.

4. Type "M" then "Enter" to open your Messages. From there you can either view your messages, or press the "Home Screen" button to write an email or SMS text.

5. Type "A" then "Enter" to open your Address Book. From there you can type the name of the person your want to call followed by pressing the "Answer/Talk" button.

6. Type "B" then "Enter" to open your Browser.

7. Press the green "Answer/Talk" button to view your Incoming, Outgoing and Missed calls.
