How to Install Windows Media Player in Wine
WINE is a program in Linux which stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator. Despite the objection in its name, WINE emulates a copy of Windows within your Linux operating system installation. This enables you to install and run Windows programs without having the Windows operating system installed. If you want to install Windows Media Player, it's just like installing any other Windows-based program.

1
Download Windows Media Player from the Microsoft website (see Resources) to your desktop. Do not download any version which is not meant for Windows; the Mac version will not install properly in WINE, since WINE is not an Apple emulator.

2
Double-click the downloaded executable file to open it.

-
3
Proceed through the installation as if you were on a Windows computer. This typically involves just clicking "Next" a few times.
