How to Print on Hard Hats

Hard hats are often slick and glossy, making it difficult to write on them. You might want to transfer your company's logo or someone's name onto the hat. To print on a hard hat you must use heat transfer. This does not take much time and requires minimal materials.

Things You'll Need

• Heat transfer paper
• Printer
• Heat gun
• Hard hat

Instructions

1. Slide the sheet of heat transfer paper into the paper cartridge of your printer. Heat transfer paper can be found in paper stores or department stores in the computer supply section. Slide the heat transfer paper into the printer with the glossy side facing down. This is the side the printer must apply the image to for printing.

2. Load the logo or design you want to apply to the hat onto your computer. Select the print option for your image and adjust the size as necessary to fit on the hat before clicking "Print."

3. Cut the design out of the heat transfer paper carefully, to trim away excess paper.

4. Plug in the heat gun and let it warm for five minutes. Peel the plastic glossy front from the designed heat paper and press the design side onto the part of the hard hat where you want it displayed. Press firmly.

5. Apply the heat gun approximately 2 inches from the surface of the backside of the heat transfer paper. Move the heat gun around to apply the heat evenly to the entire area of the paper design. Do this for an entire minute.

6. Unplug the heat gun and let it cool. Let the hard hat cool for five minutes.

7. Peel the heat transfer paper carefully from the hard hat, revealing the printed image, design or name label in its place.
