Hide the wires of your wall-mounted LCD TV in the wall

LCD TVs look nice on the wall, but there is one problem with the presentation, the wires. Wires are a reality with TV sets, but your picture thin wall-mounted TV does not need to have wires draping from it. Hiding your TV's wires in the wall maximizes the appeal of the TV's presentation and keeps them safe from being damaged by children or pets.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the stud finder around the wall until you find two vertical wall studs. Use a pencil to draw an outline of the wall studs once you have found them. Measure and draw a 3inch-by-3inch box between the studs in the drywall. Cut the box out using a utility knife. Hold the mounting plate of the wall mounting kit over the wall studs and insert the lag bolts that came with your wall mount through the mounting holes. Tighten the lag bolts into the wall with a Philips screwdriver.

Position the mounting brackets from the TV mounting kit over the TV. Hold the brackets in place and slip the VESA screws through the brackets into the TV. Tighten the VESA screws with a Philips screwdriver.

    • 3

Measure and draw another 3 inch-by-3 inch hole in the bottom of the wall where you have your TV devices, such as the DVD player, DVR and cable box. Cut the hole out using a utility knife. Feed the TV wires through the top hole of the drywall down to the bottom hole. Connect the bottom connections to your TV devices. Leave a foot of slack for the wires coming outside the top hole to reach the connections after the TV has been mounted.

Hold the TV up to the wall plate so the brackets connected to the TV through the VESA screws are lined up to the connectors of the wall plate. Connect the security screw through the brackets into the wall plate. Your TV is mounted.
