How to Improve Windows Startup Time

The time it takes for Windows to start up depends entirely on how many programs have set themselves to load automatically. Truth be told, you don't actually need any programs to load during the start up sequence. Windows will never let you disable programs that are integral to the booting of the operating system. So if you want to improve Windows start up time, you can disable all automatically loading programs through MSCONFIG.

Instructions

    • 1

      Click "Start."

    • 2

Run the MSCONFIG utility by typing its name into the "Search" box. When Windows searches for and returns the shortcut icon for the program, click on it once. This will load the program.

    • 3

      Click "Startup."

    • 4

      Click "Disable All."

    • 5

Click "Apply." This will stop all superfluous utilities from loading automatically, which will greatly increase the speed at which the Windows operating system loads.
