How to Activate the Office 2007 Block

The Microsoft Office 2007 productivity suite of programs features a native utility that allows you to block specific file formats from the program. If you have a specific type of file that you don't want users on your computer to be able to open with one of the Office 2007 programs, this is the utility for you. This utility, called the "Office Customization Tool," is installed on your computer at the same time all of the other Office programs are.

Instructions

1. Launch the Microsoft Office Customization Tool by clicking on its icon in the "Microsoft Office" folder of your "Start" menu.

2. Click the "Modify User Settings" option from the left side of the Microsoft Office Customization Tool.

3. Double-click the listing for the Office program you want to activate the file block for. You can choose between Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

4. Double-click the file type you want to activate the block for.

5. Click "Enable" to activate the block for that particular file format in that particular Office 2007 program.
