How to Troubleshoot a Minolta Dimage 7

How to Troubleshoot a Minolta Dimage 7 thumbnail
To capture your memories, your Minolta Dimage camera needs to be working at its best.

The Minolta Dimage 7 was released in 2001 and has a 7x optical zoom lens. This camera was released to appeal to professional and serious hobbyists. The camera allows the user full manual control over the aperture and shutter speed. You can use it to take movies, without sound, as well as still photographs. It runs on 4 AA batteries, and you can use the optional Compact Flash Type I or II. If you run into problems with your camera, there are some things you can try before taking it to the repair shop.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the camera and let it cool down if it is displaying "Err" on the data panel.

    • 2

Insert fresh batteries correctly. Dead batteries or batteries that are inserted incorrectly will keep the camera from working.

    • 3

Examine the memory card for damages such as deep scratches, discoloration, missing contacts or other damages. Damaged cards may not work.

    • 4

Insert an empty memory card correctly. If the card is inserted incorrectly, the camera will not record information. Full cards do not record information. The card may be full if the shutter does not release and "000" is displayed on the frame counter.

    • 5

Move the camera further from the subject, or turn the Macro mode off, if pictures are blurry and the focus signal is red.

    • 6

Use a tripod when taking pictures in low light conditions to avoid blurry photos.

    • 7

Change the image-quality settings when the continuous mode does not work. The continuous mode will not work with all shooting modes.

    • 8

Remove the lens hood when you use the built-in flash. Otherwise, the hood interferes with the flash and it can cause a shadow on the bottom of the picture.

    • 9

Adjust shutter speed and aperture when using the Manual mode so you get the correct exposure for your picture.
