Learn how to enable the date mode on a Canon Power Shot camera.

Power Shot is a popular model line of cameras manufactured and promoted by Canon. These cameras are digital and offer a lot of different options including zoom, macro photography and picture timers. Many people often forget the exact date and time that they took their pictures. However, there is a date stamp that can be enabled on the Canon Power Shot cameras. When you take a picture with the Date stamp enabled, the pictures will have the stamp on them when printed.

Instructions

      Press the power button on the top of the camera to turn it on. You will see the shutter on the lens open and the LCD display on the back will light up. If your camera doesn't turn on right away, hold down the power button for a few seconds until it turns on.

      Push the menu button one time. The menu button is located to the right of the of the LCD screen on the back of the camera. The button is clearly labeled with the word menu.

      Find the function button on the back of the camera to the right of the LCD screen. A disk that is used for navigation surrounds the function button. The function button is clearly labeled with the word function.

      Use the right and left navigation buttons on the disk around the function button until you see an icon of a camera.

      Press the up and down arrows on the disk until you see the date stamp option highlighted.

      Use the right and left navigation arrows to select the word date. If you want to also add a time stamp on the photos in addition to the date, then select date & time.

      Push in the menu button one time. This will bring the camera back to the mode in which it can take pictures.

      When you take pictures, you'll see the date on the bottom right of each picture.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure that you set the time and date correctly on the camera before turning on the Date/Time stamp function.

  • Follow the directions carefully because it's easy to accidentally delete photos.
