Restore old furniture with a steam gun

Keeping your home clean requires constant work and care to prevent dirt, dust and debris from building up and staining your carpets, upholstery, walls and floors. Steam guns shoot concentrated steam onto various objects to help loosen the dirt on the surface and even within the object. Purchase a steam gun for your home or rent one from a hardware or home improvement store. Be careful not to touch the steam when working with the steam gun as it can cause severe burns. Never allow children to operate the steam gun and keep the appliance away from pets. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the steam gun and adjust the steam temperature. Use high steam for cleaning walls and floors. Use low steam for cleaning upholstery, carpets or wallpaper. Be aware that the lower the temperature, the less moisture will be left on the item. Use the least amount of heat possible to get the job done.

    • 2

Vacuum carpets, furniture and floors while the steam gun is heating up.

    • 3

Hold the wand or the end of the steam gun over the area you want to clean and depress the trigger.

    • 4

Gradually move the steam cleaner over the surface. Hold it a few inches away from the surface when you are using it on upholstery or carpets. Pay special attention to heavily soiled areas.

    • 5

Wipe the area down with a towel to dry it and remove loosened dirt and debris.
