How to Tutorial on solving the Rubik's Cube

The center square determines what color goes on what face.

Solving the Rubik's Cube, can be almost impossible, unless you know how the cube works. It takes several movements to solve the puzzle, if these movements are done in the right order you can solve the puzzle in a matter of minutes.

Instructions

Making the White Cross

1. Hold your cube with the white center piece on top. Keeping the white center piece on top, move the blue/white edge piece to the yellow face, then rotate it on the bottom until it is directly under the blue center piece.

2. Now hold your cube so the white center piece is on top.

3. Rotate the blue face until the blue/white edge piece is on the white face. The white edge piece will be on the white face and the blue square will be above the blue center piece.

Solve the White Corners

1. Turn the blue face forward.

2. Turn the yellow face to the left.

3. Turn the blue face backwards.

4. Turn the yellow face to the right. Repeat this process for all four corners.

5. Rotate the yellow face until the corner is directly below its intended top face location.

Solve the Middle Layer

1. Hold the white face to the bottom.

2. Turn the yellow face to the left.

3. Turn the orange face backwards.

4. Move the yellow face back to the right.

5. Turn the orange face back forward.

6. Turn the yellow face to the right.

7. Turn the blue face to the left.

8. Turn the yellow face to the left.

9. Turn the blue face to the right.

10. Repeat until all edge pieces are in the correct places. Once you have completed this section you will end up with two of the three rows completed for the orange, red, green and blue faces.

Get the Yellow Cross

1. Hold the yellow face up.

2. Turn the blue face to the right.

3. Turn the yellow face to the left.

4. Turn the orange face backwards.

5. Turn the yellow face to the right.

6. Turn the orange face forward.

7. Turn the blue face to the left.

Solve the Yellow Corners

1. Hold the cube so that the yellow face is up.

2. Turn the orange face backwards.

3. Turn the yellow face to the left.

4. Turn the orange face forward.

5. Turn the yellow face to the left.

6. Turn the orange face backwards.

7. Turn the yellow face to the left. Repeat this step.

8. Turn the orange face forward. Repeat up to 3 times or until you achieve a complete yellow face.

Position Yellow Edges Correctly

1. Hold yellow face up.

2. Turn the blue face to the right. Repeat this step.

3. Turn the yellow face to the right.

4. Turn the red face forward.

5. Turn the orange face forward.

6. Turn the blue face to the right. Repeat this step.

7. Turn the red face backwards.

8. Turn the orange face backwards.

9. Turn the yellow face to the right.

10. Turn the yellow face to the right. Repeat this step.

Tips & Warnings

• The center pieces do not move.

• The center pieces will determine what colors go on which face.

• All turns are 1/4 turn rotations.

• There will need to be some trial and error, since there is no one right way to solve the Rubik's cube.
