How to Polish Gel Coat With Rain-X thumbnail
Fiberglass boats need to be polished.

Fiberglass boats come from the factory with a brilliant shine. The resin coats the fiberglass and produces a high gloss shine. This shine must be maintained or soon it will fade. Dirty water, the sun and road salt will all take their toll on your boat's gel coat. Even if the surface of your boat has dulled into a grayish color, you can still restore the shine with some proper polishing.

Things You'll Need

  • RainX Wash and Wax
  • Hose
  • Sponge
  • Towel
  • Soft Cloth

Instructions

    • 1

      Rinse down your boat with a hose.

    • 2

      Apply a small amount of the RainX Wash and Wax to a dry cloth. Rub the polish onto the still wet boat in a small area with circular motions.

    • 3

      Remove the polish after it becomes glassy by wiping it off with a dry cloth. Now your gel coat is protected and its shine has been restored.
