Identify a Windows XP Home CD by using the Windows XP setup.

Windows XP, released in 2001 by Microsoft, is one of the most widely used operating systems in the world. Windows XP comes in two editions: Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Home. The latter has limited features when compared with Windows XP Professional, which makes it ideal for home usage only. You can identify whether a Windows XP CD contains the Home edition by running the Windows XP setup.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the Windows XP CD that you want to identify into your computer's CD drive.

    • 2

Restart your computer and press any key when prompted.

    • 3

Wait until your computer loads the Windows XP setup. If the CD contains Windows XP Home, the top left-hand corner of the Setup screen must read as "Windows XP Home Edition Setup."
