Where Is the OBD Connector on a 2003 Saturn Ion 3 Located?

OBD stands for "on-board diagnostics." This is a standardized diagnostics system found on all vehicles sold in the United States. Vehicles sold after 1996 actually have OBD-II, the second version of OBD. This includes the 2003 Saturn Ion level 3 model, as well as all other Saturn Ion models. The OBD port is usually located under the steering column-- this is where you'll find it on the 2003 Saturn Ion 3. Finding and identifying the OBD-II port will only take you a minute.

Instructions

1. Open the driver's-side door. Push the steering wheel adjustment level and raise the steering wheel to its maximum height to increase your working room.

2. Inspect the area directly underneath the steering column. Look to the left of the steering column near the hood release lever.

3. Find the diagnostic connection port. This port is a rectangular plug with 16 small holes. This is the port to which you connect an OBDII scan tool to to diagnose a check-engine light.
