How to Use the Timer on a Canon PowerShot A630
The Canon PowerShot A630 digital camera has many features, including a self timer that allows you to delay the release of the shutter. The self timer can delay the shutter for a default 10 seconds or 2 seconds, or for a custom set amount of time. Additionally, with the camera's custom timer you can select a number of shots to delay.

Press the "Right Arrow" button to select a 10-second or 2-second setting, or the 0-second setting option to create a custom timer setting. If you selected "Custom Timer," press the "Menu" button, then "Down Arrow," to highlight "Delay" from the options and use the "Right Arrow" or "Left Arrow" button to select the shutter delay: 0- to 10-, 15-, 20- or 30-second delay. After you're finished selecting the delay, highlight "Shots" on the screen with the "Down Arrow" button and use the "Right Arrow" or "Left Arrow" button to select the number of shots: one to 10 shots.

4
Push "Func./Set" to save your settings.

5
Line up your camera with the subject(s). Press in the "Shutter" button on top of the camera completely. The self timer LED should blink and take the picture(s), unless you're using red-eye reduction, in which case the LED has a steady light for 2 seconds.

Tips & Warnings
If you set your A630 to take multiple self timer shots, the white balance and exposure settings for the first shot carry over to the rest.
The camera may beep or the self timer LED may blink faster 2 seconds before the shutter release. If this happens and you selected more than one shot, it will only do this on the first shot.
Custom timer settings aren't available in "Stitch Assist" or "Movie" mode.
The flash requires time to recharge between shots. As a result, the delay between shots increases with multiple self timer shots. Additionally, the data from multiple shots can rapidly fill the camera's built-in memory resulting in additional delay. Once the memory fills, the camera stops taking pictures even if you've set it to take a certain number beyond that point.
