The General Electric HotPoint stove is available in gas or electric models and can be purchased as a slide-in model or freestanding unit. The HotPoint range offers an automatic self-cleaning feature that cleans the oven and removes excess spills, dirt and debris from the unit. Manually cleaning the range is possible as well with some basic cleaning supplies. Always manually clean the stove when the oven is cool and the power is off.       Remove the broiler pan and rack as well as any other cookware from the oven.

      Use a damp cleaning sponge to wipe away any heavy soil or spills in the oven interior.

      Wipe away any spatters or spills on the oven door frame and the oven door outside gasket with a clean, damp cleaning sponge. Do not allow water to run through the openings on the top of the door.

      Wipe down the interior of the oven and the oven door with a clean, dry cloth.

      Close the oven door. For further cleaning using the oven's "Self Clean" feature, latch the door locked and turn the knobs to "Clean". Set the automatic timer to the desired cleaning time; two hours is recommended. The cleaning light will glow to indicate that the oven is cleaning.

      Avoid touching the oven or the oven window during the "Self Clean" mode, as both will be hot. Wait until the "Locked" light goes out after the oven completes the cleaning cycle before unlocking the oven door and opening the oven. The "Locked" light will stay illuminated approximately 30 minutes after the cycle finishes to allow the oven to completely cool.

      Turn the oven set knob to "Off" and the oven temperature knob to "Warm". Wipe away any remaining residue in the oven with a clean, damp sponge. Turn the oven temperature to "Off".
