Suede is soft to the touch and has a more sophisticated look than normal leather. However, suede can be the hardest leather to maintain and the easiest to stain and damage. Suede is also more vulnerable to water and other liquids. Follow proper procedures to protect your suede from water damage. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Towel
  • Suede brush
  • Cloth
  • White vinegar

Instructions

      Pat the suede with a dry towel to absorb the water. Rub it gently to absorb as much moisture as possible.

      Brush the suede gently with a suede brush to loosen the fabric and dislodge any particles. Brush the suede in a slow back and forth motion.

      Pour white vinegar onto a cloth and gently rub the suede to remove any stains left. Let the suede dry. If stains remain, repeat with the vinegar and let it dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pretreat suede before using with a suede protection spray to keep water and other material from being absorbed.

  • If the suede is too badly stained, take it to a professional dry cleaner.

  • Do not use normal leather cleaners on suede as this will change the shade of the suede and leave it greasy and stained.
