The Microsoft PowerPoint Update Failed to Install

Microsoft often provides users with updates for Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint. These updates are usually either security-related or they fix bugs that may cause you problems. While installing these updates is critical, sometimes there are errors when you try to install them. If you experience installation errors when trying to install a PowerPoint update, there are many possible reasons. Successfully installing the update requires figuring out what when wrong and either fixing the problem or going around it.

Instructions

1. Open the installation log and find the error code. Find the installation log under the "Start" menu. Click "All Programs" and find "Microsoft Update." Click the "Review your update history" link on the website that pops up. Find the bad install and in the "Status" column click the red "X." Write down the error code.

2. Click the "Find Solutions" link. Type the error code that was given to you in the "Type Keywords Here" box and press the "Search" button.

3. Find the error code link and click it. This provides tips on how to proceed. Follow each suggestion to try to solve the problem.

4. Visit the Microsoft Knowledge base if the troubleshooter didn't work. Find this by clicking the "Go to Knowledge Base articles" link in the Microsoft Update window. Type your error code into the search box and press the "Search" button.

5. Find your error code and click the link. Follow the instructions it gives for solving the problem.
