Instructions

    • 1

Clean the surface of the garage where you want to install the flood light. Typically, you will install the light just above the garage door, close to an electrical outlet. This will make it easy to connect the light and the light will stay stable when the garage door opens and closes. Use warm water, a soft brush and detergent to clean the surface.

    • 2

Sand the base of the flood light and the garage door wall. This will roughen the surface slightly and make it easier to install the light. Wipe down both surfaces with acetone to remove any grease and other substances which may make it difficult for the glue to stick to the wall.

    • 3

Put on the rubber gloves. Mix the two parts of the epoxy glue together with a paint stirrer. Place the glue inside the cartridge dispenser.

    • 4

Spread the glue onto the wall and the back of the flood light. Use the paint stirrer to smooth out the glue to ensure a smooth bonding surface. Press the flood light against the wall and hold for about two minutes.

    • 5

Tape the flood light tightly to the wall while still pressing the light onto the wall to hold it in position. It takes several hours for epoxy glue to cure, so it is necessary to tape the flood light to the wall. Use enough tape so that the flood light won't fall off or slip down.

    • 6

Clean any excess glue with a damp rag before it dries. The glue is much harder to remove after it dries. Allow the glue to cure for two days. After two days remove the tape from the flood light.

    • 7

Apply another line of epoxy glue around the base of the flood light. Apply the glue generously to create a border of glue around the light. This will provide greater stability and ensure a waterproof seal. Allow the glue to dry for two additional days before touching the light.

Tips & Warnings

  • Epoxy glue is a very strong glue that sets like cement when dry. Make sure to clean off any epoxy glue before it dries to prevent ruining clothing and the appearance of the garage.

  • Try not to get the epoxy glue on your fingers. If the glue dries on your skin it can be difficult to remove.
