Instructions on 2000 Dodge Durango Radio Removal

If you want to make the most of your Dodge Durango's audio system, one of the best ways to improve the performance is to remove the factory radio and replace it with an aftermarket model. Aftermarket stereos have more powerful amplifiers, and many models have added features, like iPod control, auxiliary inputs and Bluetooth that you won't find on the stock radio in your Dodge Durango, which only has an AM/FM tuner and a CD player. If you haven't removed a radio from a car, truck or SUV before, you might think the job is too difficult for the do-it-yourselfer. But that's not the case -- you may be surprised how quickly the job can be accomplished with simple tools.

Things You'll Need

• Panel tool
• 3/8-inch socket and ratchet

Instructions

1. Put the vehicle in park, remove the key from the ignition and set the parking brake.

2. Insert the tip of a panel tool behind the front instrument trim panel and carefully pry forward on the panel, working around the perimeter until it is completely loose. Remove the panel from the vehicle.

3. Take out two 3/8-inch bolts, one from either side of the factory radio. Slide the radio forward and out of the dash. Reach around the radio and unplug the wiring connectors and the antenna plug.
