How to Remove Crayon Stains From Car Upholstery
Add one child, one crayon, one hot day and one car interior and you have the recipe for a mess. Melted crayons and car interiors do not go hand in hand, especially during hot summer months. A stray crayon that is left undiscovered can easily melt on a hot day, resulting in a mess on upholstery. On those occasions when it is necessary to remove melted crayon from upholstery, don't panic. Instead, follow a few simple steps that can remove the mess and save the day.

1
Scrape as much of the melted crayon from the car upholstery as possible with a plastic scraper. Work slowly and carefully to remove the crayon without working it deeper into the upholstery.
-
2
Spray petroleum-based lubricant onto the melted crayon. Attach a directional nozzle if supplied with the spray to help direct the spray and minimize over-spray.
-
-
3
Allow the lubricant spray to work for several minutes. Wipe the melted crayon away from the upholstery with a clean rag. Repeat the spray application if necessary to remove all of the melted crayon.
-
4
Apply a soapy dish washing detergent and water solution to the area from which the crayon was removed. Dab the soapy solution into the upholstery, working it into the fibers.
-
5
Remove as much of the soapy solution as possible by dabbing the area with clean water. Continue pressing a clean area of the rag onto the upholstery to remove as much moisture as possible. Allow the spot to thoroughly dry.
