How to Flip Things in Open Office

The Open Office Suite includes an advanced graphic design program known as Open Office Draw. Open Office Draw contains a "flip" feature that flips a graphic along an axis to create a mirror image. You can use this feature to flip an entire image or desired objects within the image.

Instructions

    • 1

Start Open Office by clicking the Open Office icon on the computer desktop or by selecting Open Office from the Start menu.

    • 2

Open an existing drawing into Open Office Draw by selecting "Open" from the File menu and then double-clicking on the file name. If you want to create a new image, select "New" and then "Drawing" from inside the "File" menu.

    • 3

Click on one of the objects within the image to form a series of dots around the object. If you want to flip the entire image, press "CTRL + A" to form a series of dots around the whole image.

    • 4

Press the arrow located next to the "Effects" icon on the bottom of the screen and select the "Flip" icon within the menu that appears. This will form a vertical line, known as the axis, in the middle of the image. The image will flip along this line.

Position the mouse onto the vertical line until the cursor looks like a white hand. Move the mouse to the right or left while pressing down the mouse button to move the axis from the center to either side. To flip the object either upside-down or to a slanted position, move the mouse onto one of the small circles at the top or bottom of the axis line and rotate the circle while still holding down on the mouse.

Click on one of the dots surrounding the image and drag it to the axis to display a preview of the flipped image. Release the mouse to perform the image flip.
