How to Change the Windows XP Product Activation Key Code
When you first install Windows XP on your computer, you must enter a product code to complete the installation. You may need to change this product code, however, if you buy a new Windows XP license for your computer or if you choose to upgrade from Windows XP Home to Windows XP Professional. You may change the product activation key code by reactivating Windows XP over the phone.

Click "Start" and select "All Programs" and "Accessories." Select "System Tools" and then "Activate Windows."

Select "Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows" and then "Next." Select the "Change Product Key" option, enter your new product key into the box and click "Update."

Select "Telephone" and call the number that appears on the window. When the activation completes, message will be displayed notifying you that the product key has changed.
