How to Use Code Search on a Zenith Universal Remote

Zenith universal remote controls work with such entertainment devices as VCRs, television sets and cable boxes. One way to program a Zenith universal remote is to utilize the remote's "Code Search" programming option. This option gives you the ability to browse for different device codes using the Zenith remote. The Code Search programming method may be necessary if you cannot locate codes for the devices in your home, or if the devices you know aren't allowing you to program the remote.

Instructions

1. Turn on the device you will be controlling with the Zenith universal remote.

2. Hold down the remote's "Code Search" key until the LED light that is located on the remote turns on.

3. Press the button at the top of the Zenith remote that corresponds to the device you turned on.

4. Press the "Power" key on the remote continuously, potentially hundreds of times, until the device turns off.

5. Press the "Mute" key on the remote immediately after the device turns off. The code is saved.
