  1. Advanced Tab Missing From Mouse Properties in Control Panel

      Click the "Start" button in the lower left of your Windows home screen, then click "Control Panel" from the list of available programs.

      Click "Add or Remove Programs," then click "Remove a Program." Choose "Alps Touch Pad" from your list of options, then click "Change/Remove."

      Click "OK" when you are asked if you want to completely remove the program. The program will be uninstalled from your computer. Restart your computer.

      Insert the "Recovery and Applications/Drivers DVD" in your laptop, then click "Next" when the program disk opens. Highlight "Alps Touch Pad Driver," then click "Install." Click "OK" when a message appears telling you to uninstall the previous version of the driver. Choose a directory where you want to unzip the files. When the files have been unzipped, the driver begins installation. When the driver has been installed, the computer restarts to complete the installation.

      Click the expansion box to the left of "Network Adapters," right-click "Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection," then click "Properties." Click "Driver," then click "Update Driver." Click "Install from a list or specific location," then click "Next." Click the empty boxes at the left of "Search for the best driver in these location," and "Include this location in the search." Click "Browse," then select the "c:\Intel100temp" folder. Click "Next."

      Click "Finish" when the driver is updated, then restart the laptop to complete the process.

    Monitor Flickers

      Right-click an open space on your Windows desktop, then click "Personalization."

      Choose the "Settings" tab.

      Click the drop-down arrow beneath "Colors," then select whichever of the two options that are not currently selected. The two options are "Medium (16 bit)," and "Highest (32 bit)." Click "OK" after making your selection to apply your new settings.
