How to Remove Super Glue at Home
Super Glue's claim to fame is its ability to instantly dry and securely bond two surfaces. Unfortunately, if the user applies the glue to the wrong surfaces, he may find fingers stuck together or two of the wrong pieces in a craft project. When using Super Glue, keep a bottle of nail polish remover on hand. The acetone in the nail polish dissolves and removes Super Glue. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Acetone nail polish remover
- Cotton swab
- Pencil
- Hand soap
- Hand lotion
- Toothbrush
Instructions

Removing From Hands

Moisten the tip of a cotton swab with nail polish remover.

Dab the area of Super Glue with the moistened cotton tip to dissolve the Super Glue. Roll a pencil over the area and gently scrape off the glue. Don't pull at the glued area as this can rip the skin.

Wash hands with soap and water immediately after removing Super Glue and apply hand lotion to dried hands.
Removing From Fabric

Moisten the bristles of an old toothbrush with nail polish remover.

Brush the Super Glue area, beginning with the outside of the fabric working inward, to scrape off the glue. The glue may not come off entirely.

Wash the fabric to remove the nail polish remover.
Removing From Other Surfaces

Moisten the tip of a cotton swab with nail polish remover.

Apply to the Super Glue area.

Gently scrape the area with a pencil or a similar tool to rub off the glue. Repeat the process to remove more of the glue.

Tips & Warnings
Some nail polish remover is non-acetone and won't remove Super Glue.
Acetone can damage colors and some surfaces.
Use acetone sparingly.
Do not use acetone near the eyes or mouth.
