How do I Build a Stool From Bendable Plywood?
Plywood is a wood material comprised of wood chips, sawdust and wood particles that are compressed and glued together. It is flexible and can bend slightly, which does not make plywood ideal for building items that need to be sturdy, such as a stool. You can make an item like a stool from bendable plywood by constructing it in a specific way that will make the wood more sturdy.
Things You'll Need
- 3 sheets of plywood, 3-ft. high by 6-ft. long
- Hand saw
- Hammer
- Nails
- Sandpaper
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrush

1
Saw a sheet of plywood in half. Saw each half in half again. This will create four equal pieces.
-
2
Place one of the sheets of plywood on top of a second sheet and nail the sheets together. Bend the nails over on the underside with a hammer so that they do not stick out. Repeat this process with the other two sheets.

-
3
Cut one of the doubled sheets of plywood in half. These will be the legs of the stool.
-
4
Place the other doubled sheets of plywood onto a flat surface. Arrange the legs so that they stand up vertically on each short side of the piece that is lying flat. Nail them into place.
-
5
Sand the entire stool with sandpaper to smooth out any rough or jagged edges. Use small, circular motions with the sandpaper. Wipe off any remaining sawdust with a damp towel.
-
6
Paint the stool to your taste with acrylic paint. Allow the paint to dry completely before using the stool.
