Called Windows Live Messenger since 2005, MSN Messenger is an instant messenger application developed by Microsoft. Through this application, you can send text-based messages to others in your contact list as well as hold video conversations and exchange files. You can still download MSN Messenger version 7.5 from the Internet, even though later versions are available. You might want to install MSN Messenger 7.5 on your Windows XP computer if you are not happy with the features available in later versions. You should allow approximately 10 minutes for this task.

Instructions

      Navigate to the Old Version website and click on "MSN Messenger 7.5" from the list (see Resources). A download dialog box will appear. Save the file to your computer desktop.

      Double-click the file when it has finished downloading. The MSN Messenger installer application will open. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software on your computer.

      Follow the prompts to install the software to a location on your computer. Click "Finish" when the install process is complete. MSN Messenger will run automatically.

      Sign in to your MSN Messenger account. Click "Cancel" when prompted to upgrade your version of MSN Messenger. You can now use MSN Messenger 7.5 on your Windows XP computer.
