How to Tint Head Lights
There's no question about it: a vehicle with tinted head lights can be a hit, especially on one that has tinted windows as well. Most people take their vehicles to a shop to tint their headlights, but it's really not difficult. After you choose the color of the tint you'd like to apply, follow these easy steps; and before long, your vehicle will take on a totally different appearance.
Things You'll Need
- Transparent vinyl tint
- a squeegee
- Spray bottle containing soapy water
- Hair dryer
- "Exacto" knife
Instructions

1
Cut two pieces of tinted vinyl a little larger than the headlights.
-
2
Clean each headlight thoroughly before you apply the vinyl. Since you'll already have a bottle of soapy water, this process should be simple to do.
-
-
3
Thoroughly wet the sticky side of the tinted vinyl with the soapy water in your spray bottle. Then apply it to the headlight. Once it is applied to the headlight, wet the exposed side of the vinyl.
-
4
Use the squeegee to get rid of the water between the vinyl and the headlight itself. Start at the top of the headlight and carefully work your way around the light until all of the water is gone. The vinyl is easily torn, so if you rip it you may have to try this step again with a new piece.

5
Use the hair dryer to shrink the vinyl tint to fit the headlight. It is important that you do this step carefully because you will run the risk of the vinyl buckling if it is too close to the heat and you will need to start the process again. Once you are satisfied with the job, apply water again to the outer part of the vinyl and rid the remaining water and air from it using the squeegee.
-
6
Use the "Exacto" knife to trim the excess vinyl from the headlight. It is best if you cut between the headlight and the body of your vehicle. Once you have finished trimming, apply water once again to the edges and push the vinyl in place. Gently use the hair dryer and a little pressure on the edges if they don't adhere properly.

7
Wait a few days if a few air and water bubbles remain because they may disappear. If they don't, simply apply more water and gently use the squeegee to remove them.
