How to Apply Eyeliner for Fair Skin
Eyeliner can make small eyes appear larger, large eyes appear smaller or dull eyes appear brighter. According to Kevyn Aucoin, author of "Making Faces," eyeliner can play up and accent any feature on a person's face, including skin tone. A lighter skin tone in particular requires different shades of liner and different methods of application to be accented correctly. This method of application makes the eyes stand out without the liner's becoming overbearing and drowning out the facial features. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wash your face with warm water and a soft washcloth to rid your eyes of any excess oil. According to Robert Jones, author of "Makeup Makeovers," always wash your face with warm water before applying makeup.
-
2
Using a sharpened, medium-brown eyeliner pencil, line the lower lid of each eye. Begin at the outer corner of the eye and line 3/4 of the way inward, stopping before the inner corner.
-
-
3
Line the upper lid with the medium-brown liner beginning from the outer lid and, once again, lining 3/4 of the way inward. The liner should stop at the same point on both the upper and lower lids.
-
4
Use a small makeup brush to fade the eyeliner to soften the lines. Do this by brushing over the liner in small circles across both the upper and lower eyelids.
-
5
Use the pencil to draw a thin line of fresh eyeliner at the outer edges of both the upper and lower lids. Bring the line 1/4 of the way inward on each eyelid. This darkens and sharpens the corner of your eye, accentuating the shape.
