How to Convert CCs to Horsepower on a Briggs Engine
One major difference between the English measurement system in the United States and the metric measurement system used elsewhere in the world is the power rating difference in engines. The English power measurement is horsepower while the metric power measurement is cubic centimeters (CC). Converting the CC rating on a Briggs & Stratton engine to the horsepower rating is a simple calculation, but is necessary for finding the horsepower of the engine so you can use the engine for the proper-sized load or job. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Set the Briggs & Stratton engine on the crankshaft so the top of the engine is pointing toward you. This is the location of the information plate.
-
2
Locate the small 2- by 3-inch steel information plate attached to the top of the engine. The information plate will state the Briggs & Stratton engine brand, the model number and the CC rating.
-
-
3
Record on a piece of paper the CC power rating listed on the information plate.
-
4
Divide the CC rating by 15. This will equal the horsepower of the Briggs & Stratton engine.
