How to Change the LiveUpdate Server
Symantec, the company that created the Norton Anti-virus, uses a specific server to update the software people purchase from the company. The server and the service running it is called LiveUpdate. The software comes preconfigured with the default location for the server, but it can be changed to point to any other server, such as one set up on a local network by a corporation for the specific task of updating all Symantec software within the company at the same time. If the default setting has been changed and the local server stops running for whatever reason, resetting the software to access the Symantec server is easily done using a tool designed for this reason.
