Creating your own gumball machine is a fun activity for kids and parents to take part in.

Children enjoy the sweet juicy taste of gumballs. They often ask their parents for change to buy gum from the machines at the mall. Each time they use the dispenser a different color scheme of gumballs come out. Kids and parents can both take part in creating their very own gumball machine for everyone to enjoy at no charge. It requires only a few simple steps and basic supplies to make this functional craft.

  • 4-inch ceramic pot
  • 4-inch ceramic saucers (2)

Instructions

    • 1

Using the acrylic paint and paintbrush, paint the ceramic pot and saucers. Choose any color paint you like and feel free to get creative. If you want to add a design to your gumball machine, paint the pot and saucers in the color you choose, then let them dry and paint on your design.

    • 2

After the paint has completely dried, turn the pot upside down and apply super glue to the bottom rim of the pot. Take one ceramic saucer, stick it upright on top of the pot and let it dry overnight. This will be the stand for your gumball machine.

    • 3

Flip the other ceramic saucer over and apply super glue to the wooden ball. Stick the wooden ball to the bottom of the saucer. Put it aside and let it dry overnight.

    • 4

Take the bubble bowl and set it on top of the ceramic saucer that is glued to the pot. Apply super glue around the rim of the saucer and stick the bubble bowl to it. Allow this to dry overnight.

    • 5

Put the ceramic saucer with the wooden ball on top of the bubble bowl to create a lid.

    • 6

Fill the bubble bowl with large or small gumballs in an assortment of colors. The gumball machine is now ready for action. For something different, try filling it with candies or mini candy bars.
