How to Trace an IP to a Computer

When an email is sent and you do not know the sender, you are able to find his location by tracking the IP address of the message. Once the IP address is known, an online service will need to be used to find out where the IP address is located and to identify the Internet service provider. However, you will first need to find the IP address of the email by viewing the source or header information of the message.
